Day-to-day bookkeeping
Sales, purchases, expenses and bank transactions recorded and categorised as they happen, so your books are always up to date and ready for VAT, MTD and your accountant.
Based in Cornwall and working with businesses the length of the country. I keep your records up to date and send you a plain-English summary each month — so you always know where the business stands, and you're not doing receipts on a Sunday night. It all runs remotely, so wherever you are makes no odds.
Clients anywhere in the country. Nothing needs posting and no one has to travel.
Minimum charge £30 for up to an hour. No VAT to add, no retainer and no minimum term.
Xero or QuickBooks — whichever you already use. Not on either yet? I’ll set you up.
Twenty minutes on the phone or a video call. No charge and no obligation.
Take all of it or just the parts you keep putting off. Most clients start with day-to-day bookkeeping and add credit control or reporting as they grow.
Sales, purchases, expenses and bank transactions recorded and categorised as they happen, so your books are always up to date and ready for VAT, MTD and your accountant.
Quarterly VAT returns and Making Tax Digital for Income Tax updates, prepared, checked with you and submitted to HMRC on time.
Every transaction matched against your statement, so the books and the bank agree. Duplicates and errors get caught here, not in January.
Invoices raised, sent and chased. Chasing payments is the job most people put off, but getting paid on time is what keeps the month working.
A short summary in plain English: what came in, what went out, who still owes you, and who you still owe.
Complete, reconciled records packaged up for your accountant at year end, with the queries already answered.
Three steps, and none of them are difficult.
Twenty minutes on the phone or a video call. What the business does, what state the records are in, and what's causing the headache.
£30 an hour, with a £30 minimum covering up to the first hour, plus an honest estimate of how many hours your books are likely to take each month.
Anything outstanding gets brought up to date, then it's a steady rhythm: records kept current and a report in your inbox each month.

My name is Connor Drew, once an AAT qualified accountant, now turned independent bookkeeper, who has worked with clients both big and small in Cornwall and across the UK.
With over 10 years’ experience as a professional accountant — starting with small businesses doing accounts and tax returns, before becoming an in-house bookkeeper for one of Cornwall’s largest surf brands, Rip Curl UK.
Born and raised in Cornwall, which is where I spend all of my spare time. I’m a keen golfer and enjoy adventures with my little cocker spaniel, Mabel, who certainly keeps me on my toes.
Yes, they're different jobs and you'll usually want both. I keep your records straight all year round, then I hand them over to your accountant completed. Handing them clean books almost always costs less than handing them a shoebox, so the two roles work together rather than overlap.
VAT returns, yes — prepared, checked with you and submitted to HMRC, along with Making Tax Digital for Income Tax updates. Tax returns, no: those are for your accountant. I keep your records accurate and up to date all year, so when they come to file, everything they need is already there and in order.
Xero and QuickBooks. If you're already on one of them I'll work in your system, so nothing changes at your end. If you're not on anything yet, I'll recommend whichever suits the size of the business and get it set up.
There isn't a point where it's too late. Several years of untouched records is a normal starting position, not an embarrassing one. Catch-up work is charged at the same £30 an hour, and you’ll get an estimate of the hours before anything starts, so you know what the clean-up will cost.
£30 an hour, with a minimum charge of £30 covering up to the first hour, and no VAT to add. Beyond that you only pay for the time your books actually take. There's no retainer and no minimum term, which suits a business whose paperwork is light some months and heavier in others. After the first conversation you'll get a realistic estimate of the hours involved, and I'll flag it in advance if something looks like running over.
Exactly the same as if I were. All the work happens in cloud accounting software that you have your own login for, so you can see your books whenever you like. Paperwork comes across by photo, email or a shared folder, and we catch up by phone or video whenever you want to talk something through. Clients are spread across the UK and it makes no practical difference where anyone is.
Your records are held in reputable cloud accounting software that you have your own access to, and nothing is shared with anyone without your say-so. Data is handled in line with UK GDPR — the privacy policy sets out exactly how.
Clients are spread across the UK and almost none of them have met me in person. Here's what that actually looks like day to day.
Photograph receipts on your phone, forward invoices by email, or drop everything into a shared folder. No envelopes and no trips to an office.
The books live in your accounting software under your own login. You can look at them whenever you like, and nothing is locked away with me.
Phone or video whenever you want to talk something through, rather than only at month end. Questions get answered the same working day.
Twenty minutes, no charge, no pressure. Tell me what state things are in and I'll tell you honestly whether I can help.
